COUNCIL COLUMN Lithgow CITY COUNCIL Works Update Works on Vale Street Portland are continuing with drainage, kerb and gutter upgrades and removal of trees ongoing. Grading Council grading was undertaken on Russel Road and is currenlty being undertaken on Lochaber Road, Capertee. Jetpatching Due to a potentially contaminated batch of emulsion used by the Jetpatchers, the Council has taken both Jetpatchers off the road whilst we confirm that the material meets quality standards. The Council has endorsed a suite of documents to be placed on public exhibition for comment, as part of Council's planning process also known as Integrated Planning and Reporting (IP&R.) We want the community to have their say on these documents which include the Draft Community Strategic Plan 2040, The Draft Delivery Program 2026-2030, and The Draft Operational Plan 2025/26. The plans form the basis for Council's ongoing operations with the Draft Community Strategic Plan 2040 outlining the long-term goals and aspirations of the community, the Draft Delivery Program which outlines the actions that the Council will undertake during this term and the Draft Operational Plan which outlines the actions that will be taken during the 2025/26 Financial Year. This is your opportunity to let us know if the projects we've identified for future delivery align with your vision for the Lithgow LGA. We invite you to provide your feedback by Monday 2 June 2025. Water Supply Pipeline Cleaning Lithgow City Council is commencing a program of watermains cleaning across the local government area between May 12 until the end of June. This cleaning of the watermains and pipelines is being undertaken to ensure Council's water supply lines are maintained and in good condition. The Council will be in touch with residents in impacted areas which may expereince interruption to water supply over the course of the cleaning program. Works will be undertaken between the hours 7:00am-5:00pm over the period with as little disruption as possible. LIBRARY Events @ the Libraries Booklovers Book Club Come along to the Lithgow Library on Monday evenings from 6:00pm and discuss your latest read or your favourite book. There is no requirement to read a set book as the club is about sharing widely. This weekly get together is free and tea and coffee will be provided. Free introduction to fine art classes: Do you have an interest in art? Marcus Lowrey is facilitating free drawing, painting and sketching lessons every Tuesday 10:00am - 1:00pm at Lithgow Library. Marcus will provide some art materials to get you started, but students may need to purchase some items themselves. When you arrive at the Library you will find Marcus upstairs on the mezzanine level. After-School Academy La Salle Academy are working in partnership with Lithgow City Council Libraries to deliver the "After School Academy" which provides homework help and support for the transition to high school for children in primary school from years 4-6. Sessions will be held between 4:00pm and 5:00pm every Thursday at Lithgow Library Waste 2 Art "Toyshop workshop" Waste 2 Art "Toyshop workshop" is a series of workshops to help you explore, design and build entries for this year's WASTE 2 ART competition. This year's theme is "Year of Toys". All materials will be supplied by the Library, participants are welcome to bring in their old toys from home to make their own masterpiece! This six-week course provides you with the fundamentals of writing a compelling story. Classes will be held on Tuesday mornings at Lithgow Library from 10:00am to 12:00pm. The course is free but bookings are essential and can be made by calling the Lithgow Library on 63529100.
